Cloud Dome

As sole UK importers of Cloud Dome we hope to be in a position to assist the UK photographer with some photographic problems. Let me begin by explaining how we started . We had been considering equipment for product photography. The studio lighting equipment we had sourced initially was expensive and complicated, then we chanced on the Cloud Dome. It had all the characteristics we were looking for. By comparison it was inexpensive, ( hundreds rather than thousands of pounds ) simple, portable and capable of being used with any camera. The decision was made.

The equipment we had chosen had already proved itself for digital photography, fornensic photography, all kinds of miniature photography and could replace studio photography.

Basically the Cloud Dome is a simple, portable, light diffuser or light box. While we think the name Cloud Dome is totally accurate it could even be called the "Light Dome".

The page below tells you a little about the origins of Cloud Dome.

It's a studio-in-a-bag. It's the simplest way for anyone to take professional quality photographs without complicated photography lighting. It's portable and convenient - an idea brought to life by an enterprising jewellery designer and her weather loving father.

With Guidance from above.

Cloud Dome inventor Cindy Lichfield's day-to-day activities were often guided by her father's interpretation of cloud formations. A meteorologist and inventor of weather measuring devices, he canceled numerous ski adventures, hikes, and fishing trips because clouds indicated a storm was brewing.

"and the crummy thing was, my dad was always right," says Cindy. "The clouds don't lie".

Let there be perfect ambient light.

After years in the jewellery industry. Cindy was one of the first to see the potential of selling jewellery on-line. The biggest problem she found was finding an affordable form of product photography.

Hot spots, shadows and inconsistent lighting frustrated her on a daily basis. She sought advice from professional photographers and took photography classes, but still the problem plagued her.

So Cindy turnrd to her knowledge of weather and clouds. She knew clouds evenly diffuse light and on a cloudy day details and a variety of shades could be seen. Could she create something that worked like a cloud? Something to filter the light, a form of light diffuser?

Made of high impact, non-yellowing, crack resistant plastic, Cloud Dome evenly diffuses light over the surface area fo the object being shot. High quality photographs can even be achieved in low lighting. Lightweight and easily portable, the Cloud Dome is fitted with a camera mount to eliminate any stability problems. It's the perfect accessory for any photographer of any skill level aiming to achieve the highest quality digital photographs.
